Scholarship
For the first 3 years that The Haunted Forest haunted the trails of Catamount, the 501(c)(3) that was formed to continue this Vermont tradition gave away a scholarship to benefit another non-profit organization. This year, the Board of Directors has decided to focus on the importance of ensuring the sustainability of The Haunted Forest itself, as we are our own non-profit and provide many important outcomes that directly benefit our community. Our main goal is certainly to make sure that this event will live on for many years to come. In addition, we will continue to support The Catamount Family Center in their wonderful mission of keeping their land open in Williston for recreational use, as Catamount is also now a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization. Each year, a portion of every ticket sold to The Haunted Forest production goes back to supporting The Catamount Family Center.
Below is a list of organizations that have been recipients of the scholarship program in the past:
2002 – The Vermont Youth Orchestra Association to offer scholarships to allow students the opportunity to participate in the wide variety of music programs offered that might otherwise not be able to do so.
2003 – The King Street Youth Center, allowing inner-city children the opportunity to experience the beauty of the outdoors through year-round, recreational activities including mountain biking, cross-country skiing, and snowshoeing.
2003 – The Vermont Youth Conservation Corps, helping to support the outdoor, environmental education programming to youth ages 16-24.
2004 – Camp Ta Kum Ta, sponsoring a child to attend a summer camp held in Colchester, VT specifically designed to give respite to children dealing with cancer.
