Volunteers
The Haunted Forest has become a very important event to many people in the Chittenden County area. Several people have said they can't imagine Halloween without The Haunted Forest. It is a fun and rewarding experience for all who participate and is successful because of the dedication and commitment of hundreds of volunteers.
Production of The Haunted Forest is made possible by the hard work and dedication of over 400 volunteers! Volunteer participation in this event provides a unique opportunity for individuals and organizations to support a new and exciting non-profit, called Fun for Change. Indeed, it was a group of volunteers that formed Fun for Change and took over the event when the Green Mountain Audubon made its decision to discontinue hosting the event after 21 years.
In moving the event in 2002 to The Catamount Family Center, The Haunted Forest now helps to support Catamount by our paying a site fee to use this beautiful piece of land. This allows Fun for Change the opportunity to give back to the community by giving to another valuable non-profit organization so that they can continue their very important mission of keeping open land for recreational use in the Williston area. By volunteering in The Haunted Forest, then, you will not only be helping to carry on this beloved Vermont tradition by having a great time doing theater in the woods, but you will also be supporting a very important non-profit.
The volunteer packet is provided to help participants understand the expectations for the various volunteer positions, and match their volunteer commitment with the time they have to give. Participation in all performances is NOT required. Volunteers are welcome to fill as many, or as few, positions as they wish, and may fill different positions on different dates. When you have decided how you would like to participate please complete and return the volunteer sign-up sheet.
